This is a pair of two-colored, slashed trousers based on landsknecht fashion from the 17th century. It is uncertain where this fashion originated from but historians suggest that landsknechts started slashing their clothing because it was too tight for them to fight in it, and because looted clothes were too small for many of these famous mercenaries.
The "Jörg" trousers are made from robust, high quality canvas fabric and cut along according to an elaborate pattern. This allows for freedom of movement while fighting in this costume. The waist has a thick drawstring on the inside which is used to tie the trousers tightly to the wearer’s body. The waistband is additionally secured with two brass buttons with an antique finish. Extra lacing along the legs allows for to the typical landsknecht puff.
These trousers may be used not only for landsknecht reenactment but are also well suited for nobility, merchant or pirate costumes.
